Essay Ideas & Feedback.. WEEK 7

So this week we had tutorials with Cath, where she would look at our tables and the images we have chosen to analyse and write our essays about. My question is going to be:

Is it possible to see how the peplum style reused in fashion styles since its introduction into high fashion by Dior in 1947?

I decided to chose a question which wasnt on subcultures because although I have really enjoyed looking and researching into these styles I am going to enjoy researching a bit more into the fashion element side of things, Dior, Armani and comparing the two. I will specifically be looking at how from when Dior introduced the peplum back into fashion in 1947, is it possible to see a trend in which the peplum design he has done has influenced and changed other designers plans and ideas, has his style been mimicked in some way?

There are some more things I need to do before I start writing my essay:

  • Looking into another image in which I can compare the two designs with
  • Finding some academic arguments and resources to quote and back up my essay with

 

Group Crit

We had to present our work so far this week. This included research, sketch book and samples to show where we had been since our Pecha Kuchas and where we were planning on heading. It was really useful to recieve feedback and also to write down for eachother what was being said and the suggestions that were being made. It definitely made me look at my work differently and made me think more about my final piece.

We also met our second year buddies where we were given the chance to get to know them, ask any questions we had about second year. It gave me a lot of information about the work load change and the type of projects I will be doing.

We ended up doing our presentation just infront of Helen and Duncan which I much prefered as there was some not so confident speakers in the group and everyone felt much more at ease.

Field Meeting

We have all been getting together over the last couple of weeks discussing our plans for our presentation and the physical outcome of our ideas.

We have all been researching into what chairs we are going to use for our projects and looking at the spaces we have decided to choose. Starting to design our projects and how theyre going to come together in the end of this whole thing. We have all been keeping in contact with one another using the Facebook page as we have been unable to have as many meetings as we would have liked as our group is quite large and with conflicting timetables it has been hard to get everyone together.
